To a little girl.
I know this is an awkward time of your life. You're 13, and you're beginning to develop some lumps on your chest. Hair is sprouting from special places. You're taller than your relatives and that not only changes the physical frame of your relatives, but also the mental frame. Your parents or older cousins might see you as older now. You're transitioning from childhood to adolescence. "Sex" becomes cool. Suddenly, you constantly feel like bait. That 20 year old next door might find you attractive. I know, baby, it's awkward. You'll get through it.
How did I get through it?
I just did - I know that doesn't help you.
I really wish I can impart as much advice as possible, but, really, you'll gain wisdom from your own trials. What I've learned:
- Sex is cool.
- Sex is not that cool.
- Love is your mate for life.
- Don't let fear cock-block you.
- Think with gratitude.
- Writing is the shit.
To my future daughter,
Baby, you're so beautiful. I swear you're the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. You know, half your genes come from me - thank you very much. ;)
